No, it has nothing to do with Erotica. Well, actually it does. Erato was the Greek muse of lyric composition, which was the subset that included love poetry. Her name is linked to the god Eros, which is where all the English erotic words come from. I chose to name my blog for her because, like any artist, I believe in the breath and touch of the muse’s inspiration, but I don’t like to refer to “the muse” in the generic sense because there are a handful of different muses with discrete personalities, and it should be any writer’s responsibility to establish a working relationship with one muse and then keep monogamous. If you cheat on the muse of lyric with the muse of epic or tragedy, bad things start to happen.
